Cenotaphs are any monuments that do not contain the actual human remains or does not mark their final resting place. They have been built in memory of those who had been lost at sea, never found, or have been buried elsewhere. For example, The Tomb of the Unknown Soldier is a cenotaph. They are also being used at home to honor and remember a beloved who's remains are cremated and perhaps scattered, with no final place to mark, or possibly buried far away. Our beautiful Cenotaph Garden Marker are made from a high-density, natural dolomite stone; this stone is quite similar to granite. The marker measures in at 1" thick x 5 1/2” x 11”. Easy to maintain and at just seven pounds it is quite light. And with attractive chamfered edges, you can tell that these are quality made. The materials used are the same found in architectural projects and national monuments. They are ideal for the outdoor environment since the markers are impervious to freeze and thaw. With proper care, they will last for several generations. A black acrylic masonry stain fills the inscription; this stain binds to the Cenotaph Garden Marker material and is resistant to chipping and fading. Engraving included with Name, Date, Selected Image, and a Sentiment of about 28 characters. These Cenotaph Garden Marker can also be used at cemeteries as a temporary marker to be taken home after the permanent marker has been laid. But please be sure the cemetery will allow a temporary marker other than their own.
