Hummingbird Raku Ceramic Cremation Urn
The unique Hummingbird Raku Urn is a hand-thrown ceramic cremation urn made with love by a ceramic artist with over 30 years of experience in her craft. The urn has a Luster glaze and is decorated with a large raised carved hummingbird. The hummingbird is a symbol of eternity or infinity because their fluttering wings actually move in the pattern of the infinity symbol.
Raku is a traditional and ancient Japanese firing process where the urns are removed from the kiln at their maximum temperature and placed in a container filled with straw, leaves, or other organic material. The high heat from the urn sets the organic material on fire. The container is then sealed, allowing the flames, smoke, and oxygen deprived atmosphere to create the unique textures and colors of Raku.
Each Raku Butterfly Cremation Urn is a totally unique piece of art; no two will ever be alike in the raku coloring.
