Om Raku Cremation Urn
The Om Raku Urn is a hand-thrown ceramic urn with a rounded shape that has been glazed and Raku fired. The universal symbol of Om is carved into the clay before firing. Om represents the union of mind, body, and spirit and is sometimes referred to as the whole universe coalesced into one sound.
Raku is a traditional and ancient Japanese firing process where the glazed urn is taken out of the kiln while red hot and placed into a container filled with leaves, straw, or other organic material. The organic material bursts into flame and the container is sealed. The flame, smoke, and oxygen deprived atmosphere create the unique textures and colors of raku. These are handmade urns and the shape and colors of each urn will vary.
The urn with the Om symbol in the large photo has the Lemon Luster glaze. the Lemon Luster glaze has shades green being the dominant color with blue and copper being accent colors. Other glaze colors are available and are shown in the photos below the large urn. The Aqua Luster glaze tends to be in shades of blue with accent colors of green and copper. The gold or silver oval pendant name plate can be engraved for an additional fee. We recommend no more than about 22-24 spaces per line. We can engrave up to 30 spaces per line but the print will be very tiny.
